Seven Quick Takes- Catch Up Edition

1
It has been a few weeks since my last quick takes post.  I'm quite the lazy blogger.  Am I even a blogger?  I posted a few things when I created this blog, but since then I've only done Quick Takes posts.

Let's see, what has happened since my last post?  Both children caught strep throat the week before Thanksgiving.  Thomas missed four days of school.  I think Rose enjoyed having her big brother home.  Fortunately, the antibiotics cleared up the infection in time for Thanksgiving.

We spent Thanksgiving with my in-laws.  Some of them anyway.  Only one of Levi's five siblings and his family were in Arizona this year.  We had planned to go with his Dad and sister/her family up to Utah.  Those plans were canceled and we ended up at my MIL's house.

Staying the night at my MIL's house is something I only do to keep the peace.  She is a lovely woman, but her home is tiny and sleeping arrangements are less than desirable.  She also lives so far out in the country that the closest hotels are a 20-25 minute drive.

Those hoping for large families should take into consideration logistics when planning family get togethers when your kids are older and married with families on their own.  If everyone lives in the same city it is easy.  Not so much when the kids and grandkids are spread over the country and you want them to visit you in the middle of nowhere.

This previous topic has raised the possible need for a larger home in the future.  We live in a small 1390 square foot home.  This is fine for our family of four on a daily basis.  What happens if that mythical third child enters the picture and our children become teens in about 8-10 years?  Oh, and my husband has a huge family.  I would like more than one sibling group to visit at the same time.  I think a bigger house is a must in the next 5 years.

Happy St. Nicholas Day.  The kids were delighted to find the candy in their shoes this morning.  I resurrected this tradition from my childhood a few years ago.  Take that Elf on a Shelf with your manufactured traditions.

Our Advent calendar is up to date.

I made the mistake of getting on the scale yesterday.  I'm pretty sure I've lost some weight based on how my pants feel.  But what did I weigh before?  Scary.  I really need to lose about 15-20 pounds.  Can I do that my March?  I don't know.  That is the only way I can think about one more pregnancy. Thus, I'll keep referring to the third child as mythical.

That's it folks- have a great week.
